bummer

Good Morning Boxer People,

I am sad this morning. I am in the process of moving, and I will be leaving my Boxer buddies behind in the process. I told my mom that when she decided she needed help with life, that all she had to do was ask, and I would be happy to move in with her to help. Well....she asked. So here I am, a 47 year old single female, going to live with her mother. I feel like a cliche. *sigh*

But truthfully, the hardest thing about leaving the place where I am now, is going to be leaving Kirby and Kelsi, my little Boxer buddies. I have grown very attached to the sweet girls. They do that don't they? Just worm themselves into your heart, and there is nothing you can do about it. My roomie Pam, said that she suspected that though I would surely miss her, that I would probably miss the pups much more. I think she is right.

I asked Pam if I could have the girls over for sleep overs. *snort* My mother has 3 cats and 2 dogs of her own, so I am thinking that should be quite an entertaining prospect. heh heh

So (as usual...lol ) Im confused, were Kirby and Kelsi your dogs or your room-mates ?

How far away will you be from them ?

I am so sorry. I commend you for doing the right thing and taking care of mom. Sounds
like the doggies will miss you and you them, but still have their home and routine which is
what is so important for them... Don't look at it like you are leaving them behind, you are just
going to be gone temporarily until you see them again...

I moved in with my roomie Pam who at the time had Kobi and Kelsi. While there Pam and I visited a Boxer rescue, and I adopted Kirby and brought her into the house. Even though I did the deed, she really belongs with Pam and Kelsi.

You are right, they will be just fine. Pam has joked to me that they will miss me most for my "biscuit dispenser" duties. I am the indulgent aunt that they always look to for treats.

That is sad news. I hope you will still be able to visit them regularly. Boxers grow very fond of their packs and I am sure you will be missed terribly.

A few months ago Mollys original dog walker, Daralyn, came by the house unexpectedly. Even though it had been over a year since Molly at seen her last her strong and very emotional reaction to Daralyn was remarkable. She was practically in doggy tears of joy in seeing her. I have to admit it made me a wee bit jealous to see her so happy. Anyway, I'm sure those two pups will be about the same as Molly was whenever they see you.

    All the best,

    PM

        Hi Jenn,

The girls are doing well. I am actually Boxersitting this weekend for my friend. It has been good to be under the same roof with them again. :-) I think they have missed me.

I also must tell you...after I moved in with mother, she did something that at first really freaked me out. I had mentioned to her one evening that one of the ladies in the office complex where I work brought in her puppy, and I thought the pup was very cute. My mother got a bright idea that I needed a puppy of my own, and went and brought home a puggle. Oy.

I can truthfully say this my first experience living full time with a puppy. I had no idea how to go about the potty training process and all that. And the joy of getting up 3 times a night to taken them outside to do their business.

To say the least I am one tired pet parent. After 2 weeks "Peggy Sue" has finally gotten the hang of the doggy door, and is only getting me up once a night. I am lucky in that mom has 2 dogs who are really helping me out in the training department.

I sure do wish mom had decided to "surprise" me with a Boxer puppy. I brought the pup over to meet Kirby and Kelsi the other day, and that was a total crack up. Kelsi was entranced by the little bugger.

Anywho....so thats whats going on in my neck of the woods. How you?

Wow ! Boxers are the greatest, but dogs are dogs and dogs are wonderful. Yay for you !

          What is a Puggle - a pug and a beagle ?

Winston was a serious pain as a puppy, adorable, but super needy...and would not stay in a crate.
Eventually he liked the big open wired crate and then eventually he never needed it. He'll be 8 in
October, he's sleeping a lot a bit like an old man... :o(

I tried to crate train Peggy Sue, with little success. I have never heard howling like that before! Yikes! And since either my mom or I are with her nearly all of the time, I gave it up. She sleeps on a dog bed next to my bed at night. Since she has now mastered the doggy door she has started getting up in the night to take herself out to do her business. I think having moms dogs to show her what's what has been a real helpful thing.

I can honestly say I was not prepared to have my heart hammered like this. I am puppy whipped!!!
